FET Logistics is proud to announce that Harry Hughes, our Managing Director, has been appointed as the new TAPA EMEA Regional Lead for the UK. This prestigious recognition is a testament to Harry’s unwavering commitment to supply chain security and his ongoing contribution to the industry.
In his full-time role at FET Logistics, Harry has consistently represented the best interests of the logistics and pharmaceutical sectors at high-level supply chain and security events. His appointment as Regional Lead by TAPA EMEA (Transported Asset Protection Association) is a natural progression, marking a new chapter in his leadership journey.
As Regional Lead, Harry will play a pivotal role in strengthening TAPA’s presence in the UK. His remit will include fostering greater industry engagement, enhancing awareness of TAPA’s globally recognised supply chain security standards, and cultivating new partnerships to enable real-time cargo crime intelligence sharing across the sector.
This appointment comes at a critical time.
Tackling the UK’s Cargo Crime Challenge
The United Kingdom continues to rank as one of Europe’s highest-risk regions for cargo theft. According to data from the TAPA EMEA Intelligence System (TIS), over the past two years alone, there have been 5,341 recorded attacks on supply chains across the UK.
These attacks come at a steep price. For the 11% of incidents that reported financial losses, the total value exceeded €57 million. Alarmingly, the average loss per major cargo crime—where goods valued at over €100,000 were targeted—stood at a staggering €596,109.
The impact of these crimes is not just financial. They represent significant risk to public safety, business continuity, and the integrity of high-value and sensitive goods, particularly in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries where FET Logistics operates.
A Leader with Purpose
Harry’s background in secure, GDP-compliant pharmaceutical logistics gives him a unique vantage point. At FET, he authored a bespoke Quality Management System (QMS) that seamlessly integrates ISO 9001:2015, TAPA FSR, and GDP standards, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in security and regulatory compliance.
As Regional Lead, Harry will now use his expertise to help shape a safer and more resilient logistics landscape for the UK and beyond.
We at FET Logistics extend our heartfelt congratulations to Harry on this well-deserved appointment. His leadership, both within our business and the broader industry, continues to inspire excellence and drive progress.
